Fruits and vegetables always taste best when they are in season which makes summer a great time to really focus on eating more produce. Experimenting with different fruits and vegetables and trying new recipes can be a great way to add variety to the diet and keep things interesting.
For great information about what’s in season right now, you can check out The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s website. In addition to listing the produce that is in season, they also provide the nutrition facts, recipes, tips for selecting and storing produce as well as a guide for how to preserve it (i.e.- canning, freezing, etc). It’s a great resource that may just help give ideas to meet the recommended 5 (or more) servings of fruits and veggies per day.
